Yamaha APX600 Acoustic Guitar
Take the Stage by Storm
As an electric guitarist in the 1980s, if you wanted to play acoustic on stage there were few reliable options. In 1987, Yamaha introduced the first acoustic guitar that could be taken from a rack, plugged in, and played at volume — problem free. No more howling feedback, misplaced microphones, or dreaded extended sound checks.
The APX Series didn’t just focus on sound—every element was designed to make the transition seamless for electric players on stage, from the stylish finishes to the cutaway body and slim, electric-guitar style neck.
In any electro-acoustic, the combination of the guitar’s natural voice and its pickup system defines the sound. The latest APX600 features the SRT Piezo Pickup, also found in Yamaha’s acclaimed A Series range. It delivers incredible dynamic range, natural tone, and the feedback rejection and mix-friendly sound professional players demand. Yamaha’s legendary active preamp, built by their renowned audio-visual division, ensures world-class sound quality.
While styles have evolved since 1987, the essence of the APX remains unchanged. Today’s APX guitars feature a more natural look, a body that is 5mm deeper for better bass response and volume, and a new non-scalloped bracing pattern that enhances responsiveness and dynamic tone.
