EVH® Amps - 5150® Iconic® Series 40W 1x12 Combo
The EVH® 5150® Iconic® Series satisfies the needs of gigging and recording guitarists craving that unmistakable EVH tube voice at a more accessible price. Evolved from the revered 5150III® amps, the Iconic line delivers the searing tone and growling gain Eddie Van Halen made famous throughout his career.
Designed by renowned amp engineer James Brown, the 40-watt 1×12 combo runs two 6L6 power tubes and a multi-stage hybrid preamp driven by a duet of ECC83s. Its MDF cabinet with internal plywood baffling tightens the low end, while the custom EVH-voiced 12" Celestion® speaker keeps pristine cleans and high-gain riffs clear and articulate.
Punching above its weight, this combo offers two channels, each with an extra voicing:
- Green channel with Overdrive button — clean ➜ grit
- Red channel with Burn button — lead ➜ blazing crunch
Each channel has independent Gain and Volume knobs, so you can level-match precisely. A quick-attack Noise Gate on channel 2 kills hiss without choking staccato riffs, while the foot-switchable Boost adds +10 dB for solos. Shared tone-shaping includes Low / Mid / High EQ with global Resonance, Presence and Reverb.
Additional highlights:
- ¼-power switch lets you crank tubes without demolishing the neighborhood
- Series effects loop
- Dual parallel speaker outputs
- XLR DI out with speaker emulation & power-amp mute for silent recording or FOH
- Two-button footswitch included
Wrapped in Black or Ivory textured vinyl with a black-cloth grille and finished off with silver/black 5150® and EVH® badges, a brushed-aluminum control panel, vintage chicken-head knobs, and a molded top handle, the 5150 Iconic 40-watt combo looks every bit as mean as it sounds.
