Danelectro® Nichols 1966 – The Liverpool Fuzz Reborn

In the hills above Hollywood, California lie several iconic canyons. While Beachwood Canyon to the east is famous for the Hollywood sign, Nichols Canyon to the west holds a special place in music history. It was here, in the garage of his childhood home on Nichols Canyon Place, that Steve, founder of Foxx Pedals and current owner of Danelectro®, crafted his very first effects pedal in the mid-1960s.

With no money to buy a commercial fuzz pedal and no schematics available, Steve created a completely original circuit he dubbed "The Liverpool Fuzz Tone." Though labeled as a fuzz, this pedal lives somewhere between fuzz and distortion, delivering a unique and deliciously gritty tone unmatched by any other effect.

While Steve was soldering his masterpiece in 1966, just two miles away in Laurel Canyon, music legends were composing the soundtrack of a generation. The Nichols 1966 pedal stands as a sonic tribute to that golden era—a one-of-a-kind tone machine born in the birthplace of modern rock.
